SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Academic Practice Division of Penn State Health Medical Group seeks a full-time, clinically licensed behavioral health therapist to provide collaborative care services within one of the pediatric primary care sites. Along with understanding the developmental milestones of children and youth, the candidate should have specialized therapeutic skills and experienced clinical judgment while providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families. Conducting psychological assessments, utilizing evidence-based therapies, developing treatment and discharge plans, and case management skills are also responsibilities of the role. The position will include conducting individual and group therapy. Some individual therapy focuses include ADHD, depression and anxiety disorders, parent/child conflicts, and school-based concerns. Experience working with chronic illness is preferred. The candidate should be a team player as they will be a part of an interdisciplinary team.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts in-depth psychological assessments, evaluations, and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of his/her professional skills and credentials. Responsible for the implementation and delivery of psychological therapeutic services requiring specialized therapeutic skills and experienced clinical judgment. Conducts independent psychological therapeutic services using specialized skills in individual, family, marital, and group therapies. Works with patient and family, when applicable, through the family therapy process to assist in their understanding and use of appropriate interactional patterns, personal strengths, and outside resources to maximize the patient's overall stability, growth, and development, as well as that of the family as a whole. Responsible for the development and implementation of initial treatment planning and provides ongoing treatment planning by assessing patients' clinical status and therapeutic progress. Develops disposition and aftercare plan with the cooperation of the individual patient and makes the appropriate referral to ensure that such services are available to the patient. Assists with supervision and teaching of psychiatric residents, nurses, graduate students, and other assigned staff in the performance of therapeutic functions within the program, including the orienting, evaluating, and directing of these individuals. Performs other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field required
One (1) year of experience in the treatment of Psychiatric patients required
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required
