As a Utilization Management Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring proper utilization of our health services. This means you will be tasked with assessing and interpreting member needs and identifying solutions that will help our members live healthier lives. This position requires oversight and auditing of inpatient care management nurses.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform utilization management, utilization review, or concurrent review (telephonic inpatient care management)
• Determine medical appropriateness of inpatient following evaluation of medical guidelines and benefit determination (removed outpatient verbiage)
• Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
• Translates concepts into practice
• Act as a resource for others with less experience
• Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
• Serves as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
• Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions
• Performs complex conceptual analyses
• Reviews work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement
• Forecasts and plans resource requirements
• Authorizes deviations from standards
• May lead functional or segment teams or projects
• Provides explanations and information to others on the most complex issues
• Motivates and inspires other team members
• Ability to adapt at working with a variety of personalities; evaluate and adjust training to meet the individual needs

Required Qualifications:

• Unrestricted RN license in state of residence
• 3+ years of  Managed Care and/or Clinical RN experience
• 2+ years of Utilization Management experience
• Knowledge of MCG (Milliman) Criteria
• Demonstrate a proficiency in computer skills - Windows, IM, Excel (Microsoft Suite), Outlook, clinical platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degre
• Case Management experience
• MCG Certification
• Certified Case Manager (CCM)

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
